Community & Tigers Rally Together for a Memorable Night in the Creek

STONEY CREEK, ON — It was a night that was about much more than just hockey. With the future of the Stoney Creek Arena secured, over 400 fans packed the stands on Saturday night to celebrate a massive community victory. Feeding off that electric atmosphere, the Stoney Creek Tigers rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Dundas Real McCoys 6-3, improving their league-best record to 14-1-1-1.

The evening began with a powerful pre-game ceremony dedicated to the successful local effort to keep the arena doors open. Carrie Black delivered a moving speech on behalf of the community, highlighting the importance of the arena to Stoney Creek families, while Ward Councillor Matt Francis, who was instrumental in the fight to save the rink, dropped the ceremonial puck. They were joined at center ice by the future of the sport—representatives from the Stoney Creek Warriors, Stoney Creek Sabres, and Glancaster Bombers—standing together to show that hockey in this community is alive and well.

Perhaps feeling the weight of the emotion in the building, the Tigers started slow on the ice. The Real McCoys jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes, but just like the community, the team refused to quit. Josh Ranalli and Daniel Vella scored late in the first to tie the game, and Freddy Teeple gave the Tigers their first lead in the second period off a feed from Chris Knighton.

Stoney Creek dominated the final frame, outshooting Dundas 16-5. Josh Pietrantonio netted the eventual Game Winning Goal midway through the third, and despite a late push from the McCoys, the Tigers slammed the door in the final two minutes. Teeple and Ranalli both added their second goals of the night to seal the 6-3 victory. Bo Webster was a playmaker all night, racking up 3 assists, while goaltender Daniel Svedin made 20 saves to earn the win.
