On Ice and On Duty: Stoney Creek Tigers to Honour Local Heroes at First Responders Night

STONEY CREEK, ON — The Stoney Creek Tigers are set to transform the Stoney Creek Arena into a celebration of community service this weekend. On Saturday, January 17, the Senior AAA club will host their inaugural First Responders Appreciation Night, an event dedicated to honouring the courage, commitment, and service of Hamilton’s local heroes.

Event TimelineThe festivities begin early at 6:00 PM, when emergency vehicles from the Hamilton Police, Hamilton Fire Department, and Hamilton Paramedics arrive on-site. Families are invited to attend this pre-game "Touch-a-Truck" experience, allowing local youth to explore the equipment and meet the first responders before the action moves inside.

The puck drops at 6:30 PM as the Stoney Creek Tigers host the Dundas Real McCoys.

More Than Just a Game For the Tigers, this night is personal. The roster features several players who trade their hockey equipment for firefighting gear during the week. The team is highlighting three key players who serve as professional firefighters off the ice:

  • Bo Webster: A high-scoring forward with 21 points in 12 games, Webster serves as a firefighter in Markham.

  • Reggie Traccitto: A stalwart defenceman for the Tigers, Traccitto serves with Mississauga Fire.
