STONEY CREEK, ON — The Stoney Creek Tigers are moving on. Delivering the final blow in a flawless first-round performance, the Tigers closed out their semi-final series against the Dundas Real McCoys with a decisive victory to secure a 3-0 series sweep.
With the win, Stoney Creek punches their ticket to the Allan Cup Hockey championship series, where they will battle for the coveted J. Ross Robertson Cup.
After taking the first two games in high-scoring fashion, the Tigers entered Game 3 with one goal in mind: slam the door shut and leave no room for a comeback. From the opening puck drop, Stoney Creek dictated the pace, relying on their explosive offense and suffocating team defense to neutralize a desperate Dundas squad fighting for their playoff lives.
The Tigers' depth was on full display once again as they overwhelmed the McCoys across all three zones. The goaltending remained a pillar of strength for Stoney Creek, making the key saves necessary to stifle any Dundas momentum and officially put an end to the Real McCoys' season.
By executing the three-game sweep, the Tigers have earned some valuable rest while they await their opponent for the Robertson Cup Finals. As the top seed and regular-season champions, Stoney Creek will hold home-ice advantage for the championship series.
A massive thank you goes out to the Stoney Creek faithful who supported the team throughout the first round. The arena was electric, and the team will need that exact same energy as they look to bring the Robertson Cup home.
